Stockinette

Stockinette is often used as a covering or lining material for custom-made devices such as braces, splints, and prostheses. It is commonly used because it is easy to stretch and shape, making it an ideal material for conforming to the unique contours of the body. It is often used in the construction of custom-made orthotics, such as foot orthotics and ankle-foot orthotics (AFOs). It can be used to cover the foam or plastic core of the device, providing a smooth and comfortable surface that helps to prevent skin irritation and chafing, also it is used as a lining material to cover the inside of the prosthetic socket to provide a smooth surface that helps to reduce pressure points and improve the overall comfort of the device in prosthetics.
